THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM

As I've said before, the root of the problem is that the US federal government no longer serves the interest of the working citizens who make up the vast majority of this nation - it now serves the interests of the big corporations. A few examples...

The big corporations want cheap domestic labor - so, the US borders are kept wide open through underfunding and interference/intimidation of the US border patrol by the Federal government.

The big corporations want no import tariffs - so, "free trade" agreements which benefit big business but devastate the working citizens in this nation are enacted by the federal government.

The big corporations want not to be bothered by the FDA - so, the FDA is underfunded to the point where only 1% of the food and drugs imported from China are inspected due to lack of personnel and other inspection resources (resulting in increased illness and deaths of taxpaying US citizens).

The big corporations want not to pay taxes - so, federal tax laws are written in ways that offer many "loopholes" by which big corporations making huge profits can avoid paying much in the way of taxes.

The big military contractor corporations want to make money - so, the federal government engages in wars which cost taxpayers billions (trillions?) with most of that money going to the military contractor corporations. Also, collectively with the government, the US Media giants "use" information surrounding the Iraq War and other overseas ventures to ignore the real stories involving our own country, borders and sovereignty.

The big corporations want politicians elected to the federal (state?) government who work for their interests - so, electronic voting machines which can easily be "adjusted" to give the desired election results are put in place in key "swing" states, (naming Ohio as an example).

Nothing will really ever change for the working citizens of this nation until the grip the big corporations have on the federal (and even the state) government is broken. Big corporations must no longer be allowed to buy control of our government through campaign contributions or "gifts" by lobbyists.
