PUTNAM CELEBRATES 94th BIRTHDAY ON CRN RADIO |
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GEORGE PUTNAM!!07*14*08 I am proud, like many of you, to know a man of great stature in the broadcast industry--George Putnam. There are many, many reasons to celebrate his life and times. He has what may be the longest continuous running broadcast tenure spanning more than 70 years! No one can match that, not even Paul Harvey. George has been a patriot since his beginning and throughout his career. You may remember his famous 1950's sign off in L.A. during his halcyon days, "Here's to a better, stronger America --and a cleaner Los Angeles, California". Note: he also beat most of us to the punch on the environment with that sign off. George Putnam is a one of a kind person, difficult to replicate! We hope that you enjoy sitting back and listening to George on a rebroadcast from CRNTALK.COM, that aired on July 14 2008. It was his 94th birthday as he looked back and enthralled us with his seemingly never ending tales of the people, places and things that he encountered over the years. I have been blessed to know the man from Breckenridge, Minnesota. He was born in 1914 when our population was 92 million and life expectancy was 48.4 years for men who were earning an average salary of $750 per year! May God continue to bless George Putnam, you and America! Sincerely,
