THE WAKE UP AMERICA
WAKE UP AMERICA ~ Our History

Over 2 years, 500 broadcasts and 2 Summits later...

From 1990 to 2006 Mark Edwards was heard at various times of the day on the 50,000 watt voice of KDWN-AM 720 in Las Vegas, Nevada, as well as being the News Director. He instituted a program called "WAKE UP AMERICA", which at first was heard from midnight to 5 am, Monday thru Friday. He soon became a staple to the "Night Owls" throughout 13 Western states, Canada and parts of Mexico. His topics ran from World affairs to National, State and local subjects. Edwards admits it was not until about the year 2000 that he himself WOKE up to the fact that illegal aliens entering into this country were a major problem to all in the USA.

Edwards always took pride in being an informed talk show host, so he took a crash course in learning the pitfalls that our open borders were causing the legal citizens of the USA. His program moved from 10 PM to 2 am Mon. thru Friday. In a few months he founded the "Wake Up America" group in Las Vegas, with monthly meetings at the Cashman Center in Las Vegas. They grew from gatherings of 50 to soon averaging 150-200 per meeting.

From this group he organized the First Unite To Fight Summit on Memorial Day weekend 2005, then again in 2006 . People came from all across the USA, and there were about 30 speakers over the two day event. They were an inspiration to all. As Edwards often says, they were "the been there, done that gang! " In 2006, KDWN was sold and the new owners showed no interest in programming a controversial show like "Wake Up America". Edwards then decided he would either turn over the remaining funds to The Terry Anderson Show or dissolve the Foundation. Jim Gilchrist's Minute Man group came forward and said they would keep "Wake Up America" going.

Unfortunately, under the direction of Steve Eichler, the group has withered and died. There still remains a hand full of people who are attempting to help it rise from the ashes. Eichler and his people are attempting to start a new group, which ironically would compete with "The Las Vegas Minute Man" group who have been in existence for some time and have been doing an outstanding job.

As Founder of the "Wake Up America" group, Edwards feels it is in the best interest of the group to disassociate themselves from Steve Eichler, as there were too many differences of opinion. Edwards felt these differences of opinion were destructive to the running of the organization, specifically the radio show, promotion of the "Wake Up America" group and most importantly fostering strong ties to the many coalitions across the land regardless if they are PAC's or not, as long as the goals are the same---fighting the illegal alien invasion of America.

Night after night for over 500 radio shows, Mark Edwards took great pride in never running a taped or "best of show". All of his shows were either hosted by him or an occasional guest host. Edwards nightly shared the words of Ezola Foster, an icon in the movement. She said several years ago to an activist group in New York's Long Island, "It's a sad day in America when the lawmakers side with the lawbreakers against the law abiding citizens". Edwards vows to say those prophetic words as often as possible, to remind us what we, the law abiding citizens of the United States of America are up against each and every day.

It is indeed time to " WAKE UP AMERICA "and as Mark Edwards so often says "STAY TUNED!" * Mark Edwards Is In The Nevada Broadcasters Hall of Fame. He currently makes his home in the Fox River Valley in Wisconsin with his wife of over 47 years, Jackie. He has two sons and five grandchildren who make their home in Las Vegas, Nevada. Edwards, like George Putnam, intends to keep active in getting the message out about the illegal alien invasion of the USA, s long as God allows him to pass the word.
